Carstairs Music Concert

Blues with John Rutherford – Sunday February 8 at 2pm

Upcoming Concert in Carstairs! Blues artist John Rutherford will be joining us to bring Music at the Museum. We invite you to enjoy an afternoon full of soulful blues, masterful guitar, and social intercession with complimentary tea & coffee. Held Sunday February 8th 2pm at the Carstairs Heritage Centre, commonly known as the Carstairs Museum.

“Growing up in Toronto in the 1960’s and 70’s John Rutherford was raised in a home filled with music and in the midst of a bustling local scene that captured the young guitar players attention and imagination. Early guitar lessons in the basics of the blues ignited a life long passion for blues music, history and record collecting.

Moving to Calgary in the early 80’s he stumbled upon “The Eddy”, the legendary venue where an “A” list of many of the greatest living legends in blues were holding court. Rutherford became an integral member of that scene becoming immersed in the music, culture and lifestyle, learning from the masters, jamming with his hero’s and eventually taking the stage himself.

Now an accomplished guitarist and a seminal figure on the Canadian blues scene Rutherford continues to explore, discover and create. His recent recording called Midnight Microphone captured the ears of the blues world reaching #1 on the Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Canada Album Chart and was nominated for Blues Recording of the Year at the 2024 YYC Music Awards.”

37th Annual Pioneer Dinner & Valentine’s Dance

Friday February 13, 2026 @5pm

The Carstairs Heritage Centre, commonly known as the Carstairs Museum, is celebrating its 40th birthday this year. While a lot has changed including our name (formerly the Roulson Museum), one thing has remained consistent, maintaining a museum would be impossible without the generosity of our donors.

On Friday February 13th we are hosting the 37th annual pioneer supper, our largest fundraising event of the year. This fun event includes live music from The Plaiders and the legendary Pie Auction fundraiser, featuring professional auctioneers.

Tickets are $35/person or $250 for a table (8 tickets). Please email info@carstairsmuseum.ca, or call 403-337-3710 to book tickets.
